Coronavirus

LATEST SURGERY UPDATE 17.06.2020

Please note prescription requests need to be completed at home before they are delivered to the surgery. We are no longer providing patients with forms and pens due to the current situation. Thank  you for your continued support.

LATEST SURGERY UPDATE 23.03.2020

We have been made aware of some inaccurate information circulating regarding special ‘rescue packs’ for patients with pre-existing respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Please do not contact your GP practice for a rescue pack. You should continue to manage your condition in the usual way and if you feel you have symptoms of COVID-19, go to https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 before doing anything else.

Please read this helpful information from the British Lung Foundation

https://www.blf.org.uk/support-for-you/coronavirus/people-living-with-lung-condition

You will note that there is no recommendation to have a rescue pack as there is no evidence for their use and indeed there are concerns steroid will reduce your immunity to fight off this virus.

LATEST SURGERY UPDATE 16.03.2020

Until further notice, prescription requests should be put in as normal. Please do not order medications until they are due. We have had an increased amount of requests come through that we have had to reject due to them being ordered early, and the influx of requests means we are unable to cope with the current demand. Please note prescriptions take 4 – 5 working days to process.

LATEST SURGERY UPDATE 11.03.2020

As part of our contingency planning for Coronavirus, we are advising all patients to not attend the surgery unless absolutely essential. Where possible we are asking patients to book in telephone and video consultations.

Going forward, we will only be offering telephone triage in the first instance, and the practitioner will decide whether it is appropriate for you to attend the surgery. If you have an appointment booked, we are asking patients to report to reception on arrival to notify the team that you have arrived. We will then ask patients to wait in their cars and the clinician will call you when they are ready to see you. Please do not attend the surgery when we open at 8am and telephone instead.

We are working our telephone providers to ensure we have the maximum number of phone lines open and have called in additional support. Please ensure that you have updated us with your correct details prior to your appointment, and if you haven’t already done so please nominate a pharmacist for your prescriptions to be sent electronically, as we will not be open for collection. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during this time; we are doing our upmost to protect our patients and staff in the current situation.

From time to time, we may send you text messages confirming your appointment times, or asking you to confirm information regarding your medical record. For example, we may send you a message to confirm your smoking status, to offer support on stopping smoking, or to remind you to book for flu vaccinations, asthma or diabetic reviews.

Please be assured that these messages are being sent directly from the surgery, and the message will always start with “This is a message from Harborough Field Surgery…”. We would appreciate it if patients could respond to these messages when we are asking for information, as it helps us to ensure that your medical records are kept up to date.

These messages will be sent from the telephone number which has been allocated to the surgery, and you can confirm from our website that this number is 07903 594625.

If you have any questions regarding this, or would like to opt out of being sent text messages, please contact the surgery directly on 01933 354200.
